Serena Matheson
Serena Ann Matheson, 44, East Leicester, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013.
Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of Dara and Lois (Jarvis) Wilson of River Hebert. Serena formerly worked with Gordon’s Greenhouses and has been with McDonald’s in Amherst for the past 10 years. She was very active with Three Way 4-H Club, having served as it dairy leader. Serena was also a council member with the Cumberland 4-H and served as its secretary. She volunteered with the local Relay for Life as the leader of the McDonald’s “Burger Bandits” team. Serena loved farming, the outdoors, and most of all supporting her family in life.
Besides her parents, she is survived by her husband of 22 years, Allan; son, Christopher (Shelby Arsenault), Collingwood; daughter, Nicole (Mark Morgan), East Leicester; granddaughter, Anastasia; brothers, Eric (Collette), Fenwick; Roy (Charlene), River Hebert; sister, Sheila (Gordon) Matheson, Fredericton; mother-in-law, Carol Matheson, Little River; sister-in-law, Claire (John) Chisholm, Lower Sackville; nieces and nephews, Jessica and Brooke Wilson; Tim Matheson; Tristan and Brittany Chisholm. She was predeceased by her father-in-law, Ritchie Matheson.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 10 in MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home, 5075 Main Street, Oxford (447-2930). A service to celebrate Serena’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 11 in Oxford Baptist Church, with Rev. Chris Greer officiating. Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
