Elizabeth (Betty) Churchill, (84) nee Tupper, died peacefully at home in her sleep April 7, 2013 in Yarmouth after a brief encounter with cancer. Born in Milton, Queens Co., NS on March 25, 1929. She was the youngest daughter of Freeman and Verta Tupper . She is survived by her brother Errold Tupper (Calgary) cousin Julia Northrop, (Vermont) children: Flint (Rena) Churchill ,Aaron and Holly (grandchildren), Freeman (Elaine) Churchill ,Julia Allison, Emily and Nathan, (grandchildren) and Grace Amos (Brian) Jennifer and Jeffrey (grandchildren). She is predeceased by her husband Aaron Flint (1980), siblings, Marion, Roger, Edith, Jean, , Alan, and Amy. She married Aaron Flint Churchill in Kingston, Ontario where she was a lab technician at Hotel Dieu Hospital and has lived in Shilo ,Manitoba, Utopia, New Brunswick, Pettawa, Ontario and remained in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia after 1960. She enjoyed her friends and family immensely and was the instigator of much joy, joke telling and laughter. She greatly enjoyed the company of many precious friends whose lives intertwined hers. Betty enjoyed life tremendously: loved to read, had the greenest of thumbs and was an avid bird watcher. She greatly enjoyed her trips to Great Britain, Europe, India, Bermuda and the Bahamas. She had wonderful stories to tell about her travels and the people whose lives she encountered. The family is very grateful to her physician Dr. David Webster, for his kindnesses to her and us all, Anne States , the wonderful folks on the 4th floor at the Southwest Regional Hospital, and Shelley Reardon and the wonderful caregivers from Treasured Memories who sat with her 24-7 during her final days at home. As per her wishes, her body has been donated to the Dalhousie University Department of Medicine. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday April 20, 2013 in Yarmouth, NS 1 p.m. at Beacon United Church. Reverend Ray Corbett will officiate In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
