WELL-KNOWN WOLFVILLE RESIDENT
AND FORMER MAYOR PASSES AWAY

William Joseph “Bill” Kenny Jr. - of Wolfville. It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Bill on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at the age of 68, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, after a brief illness. He was the son of Elizabeth “Betty” (MacAulay) Kenny, Wolfville and the late William J. Kenny Sr. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children, Janice (John McDougall), Erin (Andy), Barbara (Richard Simoneau) and Sally; grandchildren, Miranda and Andrew; step-granddaughter, Marie-Eve; his loving partner, Karen Diadick Casselman; sister, Ann; brothers, Tom (Rosalind), Michael (Heather), John (Susan); many nieces and nephews. Bill was a Past President of the Chicken Producers of Nova Scotia, a Director for ACA Co-op and Co-op Atlantic and on the board of Co-Enerco of Calgary. Bill was a former Mayor of Wolfville, a member of the Wolfville Volunteer Fire Department, and part time police officer in Wolfville. Bill enjoyed curling at the Wolfville Curling Club and was a social member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Dr. C.B. Lumsden Branch 74, Wolfville. Bill's passion was farming, which he did all his life, first with his father and mother and then with his brother, John. Bill could often be found in winter sitting by the wood stove at the farm market wearing his red plaid jacket, waiting to greet all his friends and customers who might drop in looking for fresh apples. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. with prayers to be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 11, 2013 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2013 in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kentville, Father Craig Cameron officiating. A reception followed in the White Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society in care of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Wolfville or to the charity of your choice.
