Ronald Joseph MacDonald, 72, of East Bay/Ben Eoin, formerly of Royal Avenue, Sydney, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013, in Dallas, Texas, while visiting family.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of Mrs. Mary (Divine) MacDonald of Sydney and the late Michael MacDonald.
Ronald was the owner/operator of Me and the Mrs. Restaurant, Ben Eoin. This endeavour was part of Ron’s retirement activities and grew into much more; and many in the area will miss his presence. Prior to this, he built and ran several small businesses prior to returning home.
He is survived by his wife, the former, Dawn Hawco; daughters, Cheryl Reid, Sydney, Jean (Kevin) Bulger, Doreen (Jon) MacDonald, Charlene (Skip) Ellison, Diana (Danny) Schuko, Pam (Bob) Whalen, all of Boston; sons, Chuck (Debbie), New Hamphsire, Jack (Amy), Dallas; sister, Sheila Critchley, North Sydney; brothers, Vince (Sandra) MacDonald, Boston, Gary (Theresa) MacDonald, Sydney; grandchildren, Jason (Jessica), Kellee, Christina, Jennifer, Jessica, Vanessa, Ethan, Dillon, Monica, Alexis and two great-grandchildren, Emily and Destin.
Visitation for Mr. MacDonald will take place at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel on Saturday from 4-6 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday, April 15, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. in the T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel with Fr. Frank Abbass officiating. Interment in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery, East Bay.
