It is with deep sorrow and broken hearts we announce the passing of Clarence Ivy, April 13, 2013, surrounded by his family and friends at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late William and Elizabeth (Deveaux) Ivy.
Clarence was a successful entrepreneur for 42 years. He was a blessed family man who enjoyed life and the gift of music and song. Clarence possessed a great sense of humour and brought a smile to all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 48 years, Edith (Burchell); children, Danette Hanneman (Chris), Carleton Place, Ont., Debbie (Darren) Lemoine, New Waterford; and son, Chuck (Jody), Sydney; grandchildren, Samuel, Ivy, Garry, Greta, Ryan, Dana, Noah and Owen; brother, Joe Ivy (Isabel), Prince Albert, Sask. Clarence will be remembered by his many nieces and nephews, and a special ‘thank you’ to his nephew Billy who never left his side.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by sisters, Lillian Brushett and Mary Jackson.
Visitation will take place Monday, April 15 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., and a funeral mass to celebrate Clarence’s life will be Tuesday, April 16 at 10 a.m. in the Parish of Saint Leonard with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Reception to follow at the KOC, Plummer Avenue.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500.
