Aileen Winnifred “Winnie” Hartt, age 90 of Ellershouse, Hants County, passed away on Sunday, April 14th, 2013, in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on February 18th, 1923, in Hantsport, Hants County, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Adelia (Wile) Rafuse. Winnie was a member of the Upper Vaughan’s Baptist Church, Upper Vaughans. Winnie is survived by her daughters, Shirley Swinamer, Kendall Heights; Frances (Richard) LaPierre, Windsor; twenty-one grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; brother, Harold Rafuse, Bedford; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Harry and Adelia (Wile) Rafuse; she was predeceased by her husband, Abner; sons, Lester, Reid, and Ronnie Hartt; granddaughters, Pauline, and Rhonda; grandson, Terry; brothers, Mark, and John; sister, Muriel DeWolfe. The family wishes to “Thank” the nursing staff of the Hants Community Hospital, for the special care they gave to Winnie. Visitation was held 7-9 p.m. Thursday, April 18th, 2013, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home (902-798-2232), 194 King Street, Windsor. Memorial service was held 2 p.m. Friday, April 19th, 2013, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, with Pastor Phil Williams and the Rev. Ellen Hunt officiating. Interment was in the Ste. Croix Cemetery, St. Croix. Donations in memory may be made to the Brooklyn Fire Department or the Upper Vaughan’s Baptist Church.
