The death of Alice Mae (nee Furlong) Angus, 96, of Springhill and formerly of Amherst Head, NS, occurred on Wednesday, April 10, 2013. Born in Linden, NS, Alice was a daughter of the late Bedford and Lois (Mills) Furlong.
Alice was an active member of the Sunrise United Church and a member of the UCW and Pythian Sisters.
She was an avid quilter and had worked along side her husband, Wallace, in the farm from 1936-1999. A devoted mother, grandmother, aunt and dear friend, she will be missed by everyone she touched.
Alice will be missed by a daughter, Carolyn Herrett of Springhill; one granddaughter, Michelle Herrett, of Springhill; two brothers, Harold Furlong, Amherst and Warren Furlong, Moncton, NB; one sister, Helen Cook; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Furlong, Charlottetown, Vera Furlong, Amherst; many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her very good friend, Marion Haylock, of Amherst Head.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Wallace in 2004; a son-in-law, David Herrett; brothers, Charles, Douglas, and Elwyn; a sister, Laura; sisters-in-law, Marjorie and Doris and a brother-in-law, Arnold Cook.
Arrangements are under the care and supervision of Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst, NS (902-667-8777) from where a time of visitation will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2013 from 1 pm until the funeral service at 2 pm. Rev. Carolyn MacLeod officiating. Interment will be at a later date.
