CRAWFORD, C. DAVID - 1930-2013 - It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the death of C. David Crawford of Moncton at the Moncton Hospital with family by his side, on Friday, April 19, 2013 in his 83rd year. Born in Springhill, NS on April 25, 1930 he was the son of the late Frank Crawford who was the first fire chief for the Town of Riverview in the 1960s and Edith (Conn) Crawford. David was a retired supervisor with the Canadian National Railways for 37 years service working in the CN Shops. He was a retired organist and church choir director at Mount Royal United Church for 26 years; Deputy Chief of the Moncton Volunteer Fire Department for 38 years; his interests included sports, hunting and fishing and above all the special times spent with the family. Left with fond memories are his daughter, Nancy and her husband David Trueman; sons, Jeffrey Crawford, Peter Crawford and his common law wife Lauretta; grandchildren, Francesca "Frankie" and her husband Joel Phillips, David Crawford, Peter Crawford; great-grandson, James Crawford-Hibbs, all of Moncton; cousins, William Ferson of Needham, Mass., and Mildred and her husband Bill Outhit of Moncton. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Sheila Crawford in 1993; and his granddaughter, Samantha Trueman in 1997.
Visitation will be held at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home on Monday, April 22, 2013 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held at the First United Baptist Church, 157 Queen Street, Moncton on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 1:00 pm. There will be a reception following the service. Interment will be in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. Donations in David's memory made to the Moncton Fire Fighters Burn Unit, the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Moncton SPCA would be appreciated by the family. The family wish to express their appreciation to the Moncton Fire Department, Paramedics, and the Drs and Nurses, especially Nurse Angie Gallant at the Moncton Hospital Cardiac Unit; your care will never be forgotten.
