HARRIGAN, HELEN - Helen Margaret Harrigan, wife of the late Leo Harrigan of Howe Residence, Miramichi, NB and formerly of Chelmsford, NB, passed away peacefully at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Saturday, April 20, 2013 after a brief illness at the age of 85. Born in Chelmsford, NB, she was the daughter of the late John P. and Janie (Chambers) Hayden. Helen was a member of St. Edward's Roman Catholic Church, Chelmsford, NB and was a homemaker with an easy going personality and a great sense of humour, who enjoyed her nightly cards games. Helen will be sadly missed by: one daughter: Mary Jane (Burt Regan) of Quispamsis, NB; three sons: Barry (Wendy) of Saint John, NB, Kevin of Guelph, ON, John (Linda) of Chatham, NB; two brothers: John (Lita) of Chelmsford, NB, Adrien (Mary) of Nordin, NB; one sister: Carmel Kingston of Nelson, NB; 12 grandchildren: Katie, Jennifer, Tim, Grant, Kate, Shane, Mallory, Skye, Michel, André, Jeff, Jodie; and seven great-grandchildren: James, Marissa, Maeve, Nolan, Leo, Page, Josh; and several nieces and nephews. Helen will also be sadly missed by the employees and residents of the Howe Residence. Besides her husband and parents, Helen is predeceased by: one son: Leo “Sonny” (2010); three sisters: Annie, Mary and Pauline; and one brother: Frank.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated from St. Edward's Roman Catholic Church, Chelmsford, NB, today at 2:00 pm with Father Jim McQuade officiating. Following the service the family will receive visitors at a reception in the church basement. Burial will take place in St. Edward's Roman Catholic Church Cemetery later in the spring.
