After a long struggle with Parkinson’s Disease, Pauline McCormick Egan, 80 years old, passed away on Friday, Feb. 12, 2010 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late Michael McCormick and Ruth Johnstone and was educated here before moving with her husband and their first child to Pittsburgh in 1954. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley B. Egan, also of Sydney Mines.
She leaves behind three daughters, Norma (Scott) Miller, Peggy (Rob) Rodak and Sue (Marshall) Clark and one brother, Tom (Carey) McCormick, Prince Edward Island. Pauline held a special place in her heart for her six grandchildren. She is also survived by an uncle, Bill (Ruth) McCormick, Sydney Mines and “very special aunt”, Eileen McCormick, Northside Community Guest Home.
During her life, Pauline dedicated her time to helping others and served as director of volunteer services for the former Harmarville Rehabilitation Center where she created and grew the volunteer program to more than 500 caring individuals.
Friends were received Monday, Feb. 15, 2010 at the Weddell-Ajak Funeral Home, Aspinwall, PA. A Christian funeral mass will be held today (Tuesday) at 11 a.m. in St. Scholastica R.C. Church, Aspinwall. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
