WILSON, DAVID A. - 1922 - 2013 - With great sadness, the family announces the passing of David Allen Wilson, Woodstock, NB on Sunday, April 21, 2013 after a brief stay at Riverside Court Retirement Residence. Dave was born May 16, 1922 on the family homestead in Plymouth, just outside Woodstock; son of Gladwin and Sabra (Henderson) Wilson; one of six children. He was proud to do military service largely as an air plane mechanic. Dave’s career was spent alongside brothers in the business of farm equipment and automotive sales from which he derived much pleasure interacting with so many people up and down ‘the Valley’ until he retired in 1987. His life passions included carpentry, building beautiful grandfather clocks for all his children and grandchildren; hunting, fishing and travelling each with a long list of tales and adventures. The Tobique was a special retreat for Dave where many hunting and fishing memories were made with lifelong friends. He also enjoyed getting out for his Tuesday night card games at Glen Fletcher’s with the boys. Dave enjoyed and looked forward to working in the garden and was still planning to put in a garden this summer. A man of Faith, Dave actively participated in St. Luke’s Anglican Church including many years as a choir member. Dave is survived by his son Richard (Paula) of Woodstock, daughters Dianne Trudeau (Mike) of Vancouver, BC, and Barbara (Lori Parsons) of Truro, NS. Particularly dear to his heart were two granddaughters Emily Gaddas (Murray), Melissa Crousse (Al), and his great-granddaughter Olivia Gaddas. He is also survived by his sister Margaret Martin (Robert), brothers Ron (Flo), Clare (Phyllis) and Leonard (Nellie) Wilson all of Woodstock; as well as a very large extended family. He was predeceased by his loving wife Pearl, who died seven years ago and his sister Ruth and her husband Coburn Patterson; nephew Andrew Wilson and great nephew Darren Culberson. Special thanks to the awesome staff who became extended family at Riverside Court Retirement Residence and showered him and his family with such great care and love during the last 2 ½ months of his life. Also, special thanks to Dr. McLaughlin for many years of great care which went above and beyond; Freddy Bull for being such a great neighbour and because of his support Dave was able to stay at home; Peggy McLaughlin for her home care, which also enabled him to stay at home as long as he could and this meant so much to him and his family; Extra Mural nurses, especially Irene, Cathy, and Susan, who were so supportive and caring. Dave had so many lifelong friends in the community who helped and supported him through the years especially the last seven years when he was on his own in the house he proudly built 58 years ago on Lower River Road. Dave lived his richly blessed long life to the fullest and he did it ‘his way’ until the last few months of failing health. Now, even though he leaves behind his loving family and many friends, he will be going home to be with Pearl, his loving wife for over 53 years.
