
David Bruce Thomas
THOMAS, DAVID BRUCE - David Bruce Thomas of Moncton passed away peacefully at home following a long courageous battle on April 20th, 2013, surrounded by his family. Born in Halifax, NS, he was the son of the late Amos and Alice (Jollimore) Thomas. Bruce served with the RCAF in Greenwood, NS, London, England, Vancouver, BC, St. Hebert, Quebec, Washington, DC, Moncton and NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. He retired in Moncton, NB after 29 years of service. In 1980 he took the position of manager at the Point de Chene Marina which he held for 22 years. Bruce enjoyed cooking, golf, boating, gardening, socializing with friends and spending time with family. Bruce will be dearly missed and forever in the hearts of Elizabeth, his wife of 27 years and his children Joslyn Yelland (Alan), Prospect Bay, NS, Nancy Boyce (Doug) Petrolia, ON, David (Linda) Salisbury, NB; his stepsons Bradley and Patrick Hannah, both from Moncton and also Valerie Cormier (Jacques), who was like a daughter to him; his brothers Terrance (Lorna), Wayne (Mary) of Terance Bay, NS., and Paul (Debrah) of Whites Lake, NS, along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers William (Thelma), Murray (late Mariam), Ross (Lorraine) and Laurie (late Peggy). He was a member of the Air Force Vets Club, The Royal Canadian Legion Moncton Branch # 6, Federal Superannuates National Association (FSNA), former member of the Elks Club, Port Authority and Coast Guard Auxiliary. In 2011 he was recognized as a volunteer Coast Guard Auxiliary for his 25 years of service.
Visitation will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Friday evening, April 26th, from 6 to 9 pm with The Royal Canadian Legion conducting a service at 7:00 pm. The memorial service celebrating Bruce’s life will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Saturday, April 27 at 2:00 pm, Pastor Gordon James officiating. Following the service a reception will be held in the Garden View Reception Room. Interment will be in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
