Carmella (Michalik) MacKay passed away Monday, April 15, 2013, at Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville, Ont.
A longtime resident of Toronto, Ont., Carmella left to mourn a son, Ross and daughter, Doreen, daughter-in-law, Angela and grandchildren, Constance, Bailey and Keith. She is survived by a sister, Frances Reid; brothers, Ed and Bernie Michalik.
She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Katryzyna (Cassie Ropek) Michalik, brother, Joey and sister, Cecilia ‘Ces’ Murphy.
Carmella was a faithful Catholic woman, who enjoyed the holidays and the changing of the seasons. She loved music, celebrations and was a fierce competitor at Scrabble. She cherished the moments shared with her son, daughter, grandchildren and close family. Her fondest memories were of Christmas and will be remembered ‘Every time a bell rings an Angel gets their wings’. May your wings be bright Carmella.
Visitation for the late Carmella (Michalik) MacKay will be held in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay on Friday, May 3, 2013, at 1 p.m. with a graveside service to follow in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Glace Bay, at 2 p.m. A reception following the service will be held at the funeral home.
