Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Monday, April 29, 2013, Maxwell Pottle, age 80 years. Predeceased by his father, Gilbert; mother, Lilly; son, Glenn; brothers: Dr. Clarence Pottle, St. John’s, Eugene Pottle, Stephenville and Clayton Pottle, Carbonear. Leaving to mourn with wonderful memories his wife, Minnie; son, Neil; sister, Joan (Jehu) Dodge. Max was Past-President and Honorary member of Bally Halley Golf and Country Club and he was an avid golfer and curler. He was formerly president of the Canadian Certified General Accountants Association, President of Arthritis Association of Newfoundland, Comptroller and General Manager of the St. John’s Housing Corporation. Maxwell was also an enthusiastic bird feeder and lover of animals. At Maxwell’s request, cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from Gower Street United Church on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. No flowers by request, donations may be made to the SPCA.
