MacKNIGHT, ELMER J. - 1922-2013 - Miramichi - Elmer John MacKnight, husband of Anne (Nan) MacKnight, of the North Napan Road, Napan, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Friday evening, May 3, 2013, following a brief illness, at the age of 90. Born in Center Napan, on November 28, 1922, he was a son of the late Addison and Violet (Dick) MacKnight. He was a retired dairy farmer and fisherman; a former school bus driver for 25 years with the former District 10; a member of Carmel United Church, Napan. He is survived by his wife, the former Anne (Nan) Donaldson; one son, Eldon MacKnight (Georgette), of Dalhousie; three grandchildren, Lloyd, Angie, Denise; four great-grandchildren, Cassandra, Dillon, Keley, Bradley; two sisters, Jean Gilks, of Fredericton, Cora Bainard (Argyle), of London, Ont.; two brothers, Lloyd McKnight, of Napan, Hazen MacKnight (Deloris), of Red Deer, AB. He was predeceased by three sisters, Edna Harding, Bertie MacLean, Hallie Sandwith; four brothers, Eldon, Arthur, Norman, Bunting MacKnight.
Visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, on Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held from Adams Funeral Home Chapel, on Monday, May 6, 2013, at 2:00 pm, conducted by Penny Postlethwaite. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, with a reception to follow at Carmel United Church, Napan. As an expression of sympathy, a donation to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
