MacLEOD, RONALD - It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our wonderful husband, dad, grampy and brother, Ronald William MacLeod, 65, of Amherst, NS, on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his beloved family and friends. Born January 6, 1948 in New Glasgow, NS, Ron was a son of the late William A. and Grace J. (Fraser) MacLeod. Ron had a successful career with Saputo (Baxter Dairy) for over 20 years. He loved life to the fullest and enjoyed his time at the cottage and hunting camp. The last several years, Ron and his wife shared several wonderful cruises and resort as a couple and some with their special friends. Ron had a lifelong involvement with hockey and was an avid Amherst Junior Rambler Fan as well as Calgary Flames. Ron was a fabulous family man and he truly and deeply cherished his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed and all the beautiful moments he shared with us will be memories we cherish for a lifetime. Gone, but never forgotten. Ron is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 20 years, Millie (Quinn); beloved children, Raeanne, Bellemore, NY, Mark, Steven (Stacey) and Kevin (Darlene) all of Amherst; cherished grandchildren, Ava, Cameron, Nathaniel, Narissa, Allie and Adam; brothers, Terry (Judy), Allan (Barb) and Bruce (Elizabeth) all of New Glasgow, NS; as well as six nieces, nephews and a large circle of friends.
A time of visitation will be held on Friday, May 10, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St, Amherst, NS (902-667-9906) from where the funeral service will take place on Saturday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. Interment will follow in the Amherst Cemetery. A time of sharing and refreshments will be held in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ron’s memory may be made to the Cumberland Regional Health Care Palliative Care Unit or the Amherst Junior Ramblers.
