
Russell 'Kevin' Lynk

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Kevin Lynk on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Phyllis (Melanson) Lynk and John Lynk.
Kevin grew up playing hockey and baseball in Dominion, eventually going on to play hockey at Saint Mary’s University graduating with a bachelor of arts degree in 1966.
Kevin went on to become a social worker, parole officer, eventually getting into the beverage room and restaurant business, owning the Cornerstone Tavern in Reserve Mines and finally Burger King on Welton Street for over 30 years.
Later in life, Kevin enjoyed boating on the Mira and regularly attending the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles hockey games. By far, Kevin’s absolute favourite pastime was riding his Indian and Harley motorcycles, travelling to the US every year.
Kevin is survived by his loving wife and friend of 29 years, Rhonda Doyle; his children, Sonya Lynk, Sydney, Yuri Lynk, Montreal; mother-in-law, Frances Doyle, P.E.I.
Besides his mother, he was predeceased by his father-in-law, Leroy Doyle.
The family would like to thank Dr. Miller, Dr. Forouzesh, the cancer clinic, Palliative Care, and the CCU at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for everything they have done for Kevin and his family.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Interment to take place at a later date.
