MATCHETT, EDWARD - The death of Edward “Eddie” John Matchett husband of Winnie (McKibbon) Matchett of Miramichi, NB occurred at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at the age of 83. Born in Sillikers, NB, Eddie was the son of Howard and Viola (Mutch) Matchett. Eddie was lumberman and a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church Hospitality Group. Besides his wife Winnie, Eddie is survived by four daughters: Debbie Vickers (Keith) of Ottawa, ON, Pam Matchett of Miramichi, NB, Dr. Stephanie Matchett (Fred Jones) of St. Stephen, NB and Vicki Henderson (Kevin ) of Strathadam, NB; one son: Peter of Saint John, NB; one sister: Martha Tozer of Miramichi, NB; eight grandchildren: Chelsea and Allan Vickers, Frederick Jones, Lauren and Alex Henderson, Jack, Kelly and Deanna Matchett and several nieces and nephews. Eddie is predeceased by one daughter: Beth Gratton; ten sisters, two brothers and one half brother.
Visitation will be held at Bell’s Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 11 AM from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Miramichi, NB with Father Tom Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery. In Eddie’s memory a donation may be made to NB Lung Association, NB Diabetic Association, Parkinson’s Society or St Mary’s Restoration Fund.
