COUCH: Kenneth Herbert (Tiny) of Gull Lake, SK passed away Sunday May 5th, 2013 at Gull Lake Special Care Centre at the age of 82. He was born in Shaunavon, SK on August 30,1930. Ken was the eldest of four children born to Herb and Flora Couch. He received his schooling at Trent, Dama and Verlo school districts. Ken eventually started working in the oil patch and spent many years working on the rigs. He met and married Gloria Grimshaw on July 5th, 1963 in Swift Current, SK. They made their home in Verlo, SK and continued farming Grandpa Couch's farm prior to purchasing the Harvey Hait homestead. Ken and Gloria welcomed the birth of Kent in 1966 and Shaun in 1969. In 1980 Shorty Cross came to live with them and was treated like one of his boys. Ken was an avid outdoorsman, whether it was packing up the family and heading north to La Ronge to go fishing or driving the countryside with the boys to hunt deer. The door was always open to friends south of the border who came each year to hunt geese. He also had a love for dogs, especially greyhounds, which he used to hunt coyotes with throughout the years. Ken enjoyed watching Rider games, playing ball in Verlo and coaching hockey. He always had advice to give on how to improve, play tough and never give up. Ken loved his grandchildren. He had nicknames for them all. Kyra (Bratso), Luke (Goofie), Kenny (Badger), Maegan (Meegan), Ryley (Coyote), Taylor (Tilly), he had a nickname for everyone. It is hard to sum up Ken's life in a few paragraphs because his life was stuffed full of adventure. There are so many stories and legacies that will remain and be passed down through generations. He spent the last 13 years of his life in the Gull Lake Special Care Centre due to long battle with diabetes. We would like to extend sincere gratitude to Dr. Kozroski and the staff for the care and attention given to Ken, it did not go unnoticed Thank You. Ken is survived by his children Kent and Shaun (Bev), Shorty (Lisa) Paige and brother Howard, sister Keitha (Ed), sister Coralee, sister in law Cheryle Grimshaw, sister in law Joanne (Fred), step brother in law Randy (Karen) and Brother in law Greg and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant daughter Joan in 1964, parents Herb & Flora, wife Gloria, brother in law Ron, sister in law Lynn, mother and father in law Ted & Joan nephew Travis Brodie.
