HAMILTON, DOUGLAS NORMAN – The death of Douglas Norman Hamilton, age 71, formerly of 33 Smythe St., Saint John and of Wickham, N.B., occurred at Bobby’s Hospice on May 12, 2013. Born in Saint John, he was a son of the late Roland Vernon and Marguerite Theresa (Gallant) Hamilton.He worked at McAvity’s, Sobey’s, the Port in Toronto, and with CPR truckers through out his life. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion branch #2 and branch #69. Douglas was pre deceased by six brothers, Roland, Robert, Charles, Paul, Reginald, and Eugene, and one sister, Dorothy Arthurs. He is survived by one daughter, Dawn Joy Hamilton, of Ontario, three sisters, Marguerite (Harvey) Hayes, of Calgary, Joy (Ronald) Joyce, of Moores Mills, N.B., and Marilyn Carlin, of Saint John, and several nieces and nephews.
Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John have been entrusted with the arrangements. In keeping with Douglas’s wishes there will be no visitation. A graveside service, conducted by Rev. Chris McMullen will be held on Wednesday May 15, 2013 at 2pm at Cedar Hill Ext. Cemetery. Donations to Bobby’s Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
