CHANCE HARBOUR – Randy J. Arsenault, passed away on May 13, 2013 after a brief battle with cancer.
Born Radolphe Joseph Arsenault in Caribou Gold Mines, NS to Jean-Baptiste and Alice (Martin) Arsenault of Rogersville, NB on January 23, 1928.
Randy graduated from the former College of Sainte Anne, Church Pointe, NS and had a varied career, including five years on the Sudbury City Police Force, as well as jobs in Anaheim, CA, Yarmouth, NS, Kapuskasing, ON and with C.M.H.C. in Newfoundland. He settled in Pictou County, NS in 1967 to form Randy Arsenault Construction Ltd. and Arsenault Realty and pursue his passion in the home building industry. He finally retired in 2012, as a member of the sales team at JF MacIvor Properties. Two of Randy’s proudest moments were as a founding member of the Atlantic New Home Warranty program, and being President of the Nova Scotia Home Builders Association. Randy was an active member of the Euclid Masonic Lodge, and the Pictou County Shrine Club.
He is survived by his wife, Jean (Murray); sons: R. Murray (Lorna), Whitehorse, YT; and Dale M. (Tanya), Dartmouth; grandchildren: Monica, Christopher, Alex and Peyton; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Randy was predeceased by siblings: Agnes LeBlanc, Mary Boucher, Leona Comeau, Joe Vic and Joseph Adelaird, as well as Adolph and Willy in childhood.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral mass 11 a.m. Saturday in Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow, with Father Gary MacPherson officiating.
Euclid Masonic Lodge will meet at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. Friday to conduct their service.
