It is with sadness we announce the passing of Walter Harris MacLeod on May 12, 2013, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Sydney, Walter was the son of the late Hughie and Alice (Taylor) MacLeod. He was the last of his immediate family.
Walter lived a simple life. He loved fishing and hunting. Walter will be remembered by family and friends for being soft-hearted and easygoing.
Walter leaves behind his cousins, Janet Manley, Denise Taylor and Greg Taylor; brother-in-law, Bill Bowers; niece, Debbie Bowers; nephew, David Bowers and special friends, Wendy Marsman, Timmy Fraser and Francis O’Rouke.
Besides his parents, Walter was predeceased by sister, Joan Bowers as well as several aunts and uncles.
Visitation for the late Walter Harris MacLeod will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Thursday, May 16, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial service to celebrate the life of Walter will be held on Friday, May 17, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. at Pier Community Funeral Home, All Faith Chapel, with Major Kent Hepditch officiating. Interment will take place in Hardwood Hill Cemetery, Sydney.
Donations in memory of Walter may be made to the Salvation Army Sydney Community Church.
