Aggie Campbell, age 68 of Glace Bay, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, Aggie was the daughter of the late Robert and Sarah (Curtis) McLellan.
Aggie was a member of St. Anthony’s Church. She worked at Cadegan’s and Hopkins Fish Plant in her earlier years but then decided to stay home to be a housewife and raise her children and watch her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. Aggie loved playing cards, shooting darts, playing bingo and going swimming with her children and grandchildren. She was blessed with a great sense of humour.
Aggie is survived by the love of her life of 50 years, her husband, Wayne Campbell; eight children, Mary Ann (Howard Lawrence), June (Russell Hannan), Betty Campbell, Arthur (Karen), Teresa (Glenn Russell), Gen (Robbie),Troy (Janet), Tori (Denis), her pride and joy, her 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and her baby dog, ‘Spike’. Aggie is also survived by two sisters, Mary McLellan, Elizabeth Pickup and a special friend, Jean Campbell.
Besides her parents, Aggie was predeceased by a special great-grandson, Nathan; father and mother-in-law, William and Beatrice Campbell; brothers, Paddy, Johnny, Anthony, Angus; infant brother, Francis; sisters, Margaret, Rosie; infant sister, Mary Ann and a special nephew, Bobby.
In honouring Aggie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass, officiated by Rev. Norman MacPhee is Friday at 2 p.m. in St. Anthony’s Church followed by a reception in the parish hall.
No graveside service, Aggie is going back home to be with Da and Spike.
We would like to say thank you to Dr. Stephanie Ellerker, Dr. Rebelo and the nursing staff at I.C.U., Glace Bay Hospital.
No flowers please. As an expression of sympathy for Aggie memorial donations in her memory may be made to the S.P.C.A. or the Nova Scotia Diabetic Association.
