Earl Sheppard of Reeves Street, Sydney, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, he was a son of the late Graham and Margaret (MacQueen) Sheppard.
Earl was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of St. Alban’s Anglican Church, Whitney Pier.
He retired from Sydney Steel, where he worked in the coke ovens and on the railway.
Surviving are his loving wife, Mary (White); sons, Cameron (Debbie), South Bar, and Clyde (Rena), Hamilton, Ont.; step-daughter, Jecca Lee (Kirby) Lewis, Dartmouth; 11 other children; grandchildren, James, Jennifer, Cheryl, Samii, Kaleb and Sydney, as well as many more grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and their families, too numerous to mention; close friend, Elsie; and his little buddy, his dog, Sneakers.
Earl was predeceased by his sisters, Eleanor MacDonald and Jean Wylde, brothers, Douglas, John, Donald, Gordon and Clyde, as well as a sister and brother in infancy.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at St. Alban’s Anglican Church on Saturday 2 p.m., with Archdeacon Brenda Drake officiating. Interment in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
