Clement Fabian Nearing, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the age of 72 years.
Clement Fabian Nearing was born on June 9, 1940 in Port Morien, Nova Scotia (Cape Breton Island). On Oct. 27, 1962, he married Vivian Kathleen Kam of Calgary, Alta. After living his early years in Donkin, N.S., Fabian moved to Calgary in 1958 with the rest of his family and has called Calgary home ever since; although, he always referred to Cape Breton as “down home”. Fabian worked for the City of Calgary with Parks from 1961 to 1995. Fabian enjoyed travelling with Mom and working in his small wood shop, and gardening, but most of all, he enjoyed the company of family, especially his seven grandchildren.
Fabian is survived by his wife of 50 years, Vivian; brother, James T. Nearing; children, Allan (Brenda), Cheryl, Joyell (Len Armstrong), Mary (Chad Jarvis); grandchildren, Dustin Fleming, Brooklyn, Paige, Tess and Chance Jarvis and Nickolas and Mitchell Armstrong.
Fabian was predeceased by his parents, James Nearing and Florence Giovannetti; sisters, Mary (Marguerite) Nearing and Sharon Nearing and brother, Dr. Joseph Nearing and niece, Debra Walz.
A memorial service will be held at McInnis & Holloway’s, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, May 27, 2013 at 10:30 a.m.
