John 'Jack' Phelan

John Thomas ‘Jack’ Phelan passed away peacefully Wed, May 22, 2013.
Born 1936 in North Sydney, Cape Breton, he was the son of the late John T. and Annie Phelan. Jack was a retired Salvation Army Officer (Major); most of his active years were spent in western Canada and Ontario. Jack had not been in good health for some time and it is with great sadness that we announce his passing.
Survived by three sisters, Violet ‘Vi’ Thorne, Vivian Gates, both of Halifax, Ann Bruckmoser (Lou) Wisconsin and two brothers, Brian (Phyllis), Truro and George (Barb), New Minas. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in J. A. Snows Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax. Funeral on Monday, May 27, at 2 p.m., Salvation Army Gesner Dr. Fairview with Captains James and Shelley Rand officiating and retired Major Don Dean. Reception to follow.
Burial is to be held Tuesday, May 28 at 2 pm in Lakeside cemetery in North Sydney.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or the Salvation Army.
