BREEN, THOMAS W. - The death of Thomas William Breen, of Saint John, NB, husband of Christine (O’Hara) Breen, occurred on Friday, May 24, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born in Saint John, on May 27, 1928, he was a son of the late Mark and Ada (Cormier) Breen. Tom retired as Deputy Chief of the Saint John City Police Force in 1987, after a 38 year career. Tom often commented that he worked for the greatest Police Force in the World. Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons; Daniel of New Hampshire, Peter (Brenda), Arthur (Karen) of AB, Carl, and George (Erica), all of Saint John, daughters; Lorene Blauveldt (Hugh) of AB, Pat Thibodeau (Mark) of New Maryland, Andra O’Brien (Shane) of Saint John, Susan Gerow (Warran) of Hampton, NB, and Vera Dow (Doug) of Saint John, brothers; Mark (Clara), and Butch, sisters; Helen Brideau (Thomas), Jean Osborne, and Margaret Cross, twenty grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, sister-in-law; Mary Breen, as well as several nieces and nephews. Thomas was predeceased by his brothers; James, Joseph and Arthur, sisters; Vera, Christina, Theresa Rigby, and Mary McGowan and three children in infancy, brother-in-laws; Cal Cross, and John “Ozzy” Osborne, and sister-in-law; Margaret Breen and Dot Breen.
Resting at Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, Saint John (634-1965), with visiting on Monday from 2:00 – 9:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 from St. Ann’s Church, Simpson Drive, at 11:00 AM. Interment to take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, would be appreciated. www.fitzpatrickfh.com
