Spencer Price

PRICE, SPENCER - Spencer Price passed away on May 26, 2013, at the age of 95, at the Veterans Health Unit in Fredericton, New Brunswick. He was a life long resident of Doaktown, NB. He was the only child of the late Cleveland and Mildred (Russell) Price of Doaktown. Spencer was predeceased by his wife, Betty Ruth Dibb in 1979 and his son Terry in 2011. He is survived by his daughters: Gayle (Eric) White of New Maryland, NB and Janice (Brent) Taylor of Strafford, PEI, and daughter-in-law Sally Price of Fort McMurray, AB. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Stacey (Tony) Giddings, Telkwa, BC; Kelsey Price, Smithers, BC; Randy Price, Fort McMurray, AB; Rodney Price, Valleyview, AB; Neil Taylor, Strafford, PEI; Erika (Jason) Creally, Ottawa, ON; Jason (Stephanie) White, Fredericton, NB and eight great grandchildren: Morgan and Spencer Giddings, Sawyer Price; Owen, Liam, Quinn and Cailyn Creally and Anna White. Spencer completed High School in Doaktown and graduated from a Business Program at Mount Allison University. He joined the air force and became a fighter pilot during World War II – flying the Harvard, Yale, Anson, Spitfire and Hurricane aircrafts. He flew missions out of England, Wales, Scotland, France, Belgium and Holland. After the war he returned to Doaktown and started a welding and machine shop which he owned and operated for forty years. He was interested in sports and played many sports in his youth: hockey, baseball, softball and tennis. Spencer was a quiet man who enjoyed a good book and a good cigar. Many thanks go to Brenda Porter and Natalie St. Germain for the great care provided to Spencer during his time at home. Thanks to Dr. Chow, Dr. Rae and Dr. Keddy for their professional care. A special thanks to all the staff of the Veterans Health Unit in Fredericton. You are an amazing group of employees.
Cremation will take place through Cremation Services of New Brunswick. At Spencer’s request there will be no visitation and no funeral service. A private family burial will take place at a later date. In Spencer’s memory donations can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. www.chipmanfuneralhome.ca
