It is with broken hearts that we the family of Sylvia Delores Marsh, announce her passing at home on Tuesday, May 28, 2013.
Born in Sydney Mines on July 21, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Sidney and Ella Mae (LeBlanc) Tremblett.
Sylvia spent her entire life devoted to loving and raising her family who she loved very much. Her happiest moments were greeting one of children or grandchildren coming through the door with that smile that could light up the world. She offered an open heart to all who knew her and provided a helping hand to anyone she could.
She leaves behind to mourn her fiance, William Thomas Whitty, North Sydney; and her six children, daughters, Darlene Marsh, Shirley Ann (Jerome) Tobin, both of North Sydney, Robina ‘Beanie’ (Adrian) O’Toole, Coxheath, Francine ‘Betty’ Marsh, Lockeport, N.S., Melinda Whitty (Daniel) North Sydney; and son, Clarence ‘Chucker’ (Tracey) Marsh of Florence. Sylvia is also survived by her grandchildren, Patricia (Dave), Kelly (Charlie), Michael, Ryan, Caelyn, Tyson; stepchildren, Christina (Brandon) and Adrian; great-grandchildren, Haley, Ava, Miya, baby Charlie Jr. and step-great-granddaughter, Brooklyn.
Sylvia came from a very large family of 14 children, and also surviving are sisters, Germaine (Bert Gamelin), Ontario, Carol (Al Johnston), N.B., Shirley Hawkins, Colleen Tremblett (Peter), Donna Dunne (Joe) and Jane Jackson, all of Sydney Mines; brothers, Paul Tremblett (Cathy Ann), Melvin Tremblett, Clarence ‘Gussy’ Tremblett(Linda), all of Sydney Mines, Ernie Tremblett, Georges River, Terry Tremblett (Sandra), Little Pond; and many nieces and nephews and special niece Roxanne Tremblett.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Bernard ‘Darkie’ Tremblett (Annie Mae) and Sidney ‘Sonny’ Tremblett, sister, Lena in infancy, sisters-in-law, Eileen Flanagan and Olive (Melvin) Tremblett, brother-in-law, Johnny (Shirley) Hawkins and ex-husband the late Ignatious (Buddy) Marsh.
There will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday May 31, 2013, at 2 p.m. at St. Pius X Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Thomas John officiating.
We would like to extend a special thanks to our mother’s doctor, Dr. M. Knott and to all the doctors, nurses and staff at both the Northside General Hospital and the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their care and compassion given during Mom’s illness.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Francis Funeral Home.
