It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jennita ‘Jenny’ Silver at the Oceanview Manor in Eastern Passage, N.S., May 29, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in North Sydney, Jan. 30, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Emma Gouthro.
Jenny was associate member of Royal Canadian Legion - Branch 8, the Branch 8 dart team (very proud of getting 180 points.) and ladies auxiliary. She was also a member of the Catholic Women’s League at Immaculate Conception Church in Sydney Mines, and generously donated her time volunteering at Miner’s Memorial Manor. Nanny loved her trip to Saint-Anne de-Beaupré in Quebec every year with great friends and loving family.
Surviving are her seven children, Jackie (Lyne), Cole Harbour, N.S., Roberta (Doug), Stewiacke, N.S., Tom (Connie), Whitecourt, Alta., Derek (Margetann), Terri (Sandy), Dennis and Kevin (Jeannie), all of Eastern Passage, N.S.; sisters Theresa (Tommy), Leona (Kevin), Sr. Marcella, Sister of Charity; brother, Mike (Beth) as well has her 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brother Frank and sister Hilda.
Visitation will take place Friday, May 31, 2013, from 7-9 p.m. at Francis Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday June 1, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Thomas John officiating. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
A very special thanks to ALL staff at Ocean view Manor in Eastern Passage who took such great care of Jenny. Your hard work and loving care has not gone unnoticed.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Jenny’s honor to Oceanview Manor Society or Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines.
