1940-2013
It is with deep sadness that we must announce the passing of George W. Gould, age 72, of Amherst. George passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
Born in Nappan, NS, he was a son of the late Harold and Freda (Hurley) Gould. A great man, George loved his family, and always enjoyed spending time with his girls and his grandchildren. In his early years he pulled tug-of-war. He loved hunting, fishing and being outdoors. An avid Ramblers Fan, he never missed a game. He was a frequent volunteer at the CRHCC with the Heart and Health program.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 51 years, Sandra (Archibald) Gould, Amherst; daughters; Julie Ripley, Amherst, Marion (Wilfred) Ross, Kingston, NS; 2 grandchildren, Chase and Taylor Ripley; brothers Howard (Pat) Gould, Orleans, ON, Murray (Hazel), Miramichi, NB; sister Elsie Bourgeois, Amherst, Rita Stewart, Amherst, Rose (Dana) Cosman, Brookdale, NS, Vera (Carroll) McGinnis, Hastings, NS; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Vaughn "Sonny" Gould and Infant Robert Daniel Gould; sister Hilda Wilson; step mother Alice (Burke) Gould.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777) where visiting hours will take place on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral services will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 2 pm, Ruth Gamble, DLM officiating. Burial will follow in the Amherst Cemetery.
