It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister, Maydell Catherine Mills, who passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2013, at her place of residence, the Northside Guest Home.
Born in Mill Creek on March 10, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Bertha (Rasmussen) Jessome.
She was a member of St. Pius X parish, the CWL and the Sydney Mines Pensioners Fun Band.
Maydell lived an unselfish life, always ready and willing to help others. She was a stay at home mother who raised 14 children.
She leaves behind to mourn, her children: John (Flo), P.E.I., Terry (Linda), Robert (Lisa), Ann Henwood, Lynn (Mike) Larocque, Ontario, Dougie (Heather), Winnipeg, Loretta (Bill) Ryan, Halifax, Catherine (Edward) Forrest, Harley (Mary), Brian (Rosemary), George (Rennie), Donald (Jennie), Gail (Frankie) LeBlanc, Sydney Mines, and Billy, Sydney; brothers, Charles, Emmett, John and sisters, Marie Doddy and Loretta St. Denis; her grandchildren; and dear friend, Annie Alson.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her one and only true love, John Mills, grandsons, Kenny Forrest and John Mills, sisters, Mildred, Genevieve, Carlotta, Theresa, Louise and Andrea and brothers, Harold and LeBaron.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Andrew Wawer and all the staff at the Northside Guest Home.
Visitation for Maydell Mills will be held Sunday, June 2, 2013, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines. A funeral mass celebrating her life will take place Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Thomas John officiating. A reception will be held in the parish hall, after the mass. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
Donations in Maydell’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice. No flowers please.
