Elizabeth “Liz” Ann (nee Smith) Thar passed away May 28, 2013, at Victoria Hospital in London, Ont., with her family by her side. She resided in London, Ont. Born Aug. 11, 1951, in Summerside, Liz is survived by her loving husband Jim Thar, treasured son Jonathan Thar and partner Jenny Tetrault, mother Marion Smith, brothers Francis (Rachael, deceased) Carl, Paul (Ruby), sisters Diana (John), Linda, Jocelyn (Kerry Marchbank, deceased), numerous nieces and nephews and supportive friends John Swan and Linda Romao. Predeceased by her father George Smith, sister Marie Zengel and brother Rudy. As requested by Liz, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Women’s Community House, London, Ont., a foundation close to her heart. Always an Islander at heart, her family will carry out her wishes to take her home to Summerside.
