Verna Rae Young
April 5, 1933 – May 24, 2013

Verna passed away peacefully on Friday, May 24, 2013. Verna was born on April 5, 1933 in Melfort, SK, the daughter of Harold and Hazel Young. She grew up in Kinistino and enrolled in the nursing program at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert after high school. She got her diploma and worked in several hospitals over the course of her career. She especially liked the maternity area and cared for the newborns in the nursery and the premature nursery. Verna devoted a lot of her time to helping others. She gave up nursing and came home to her parents when they were ill and needed help. She was very independent, always taking care of things in her own way. She is survived by many cousins and special friends. We will miss her. An Interment will be held at South Hill Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Research or to a Charity of Donor’s Choice.
