GREENE, LEROY CARMAN - 1934-2013 - Mr. Leroy Carman Greene, 79, of North Head, Grand Manan Island passed away Saturday, June 1 at the Grand Manan Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born at Grand Harbour, April 30, 1934 he was the son of the late Douglas and Ruth (Lounder) Greene of Grand Manan. Carman spent many years employed by the Brunswick Hotel in Moncton. He then moved home to take the position of custodian of the Grand Manan School from where he retired in 2005. He was a member of the Grand Harbour United Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Emma (Mollins) Greene; two daughters, Debbie (Gary) McKinley of Saint John, Kathleen (David) Basque of Dartmouth, NS; three sons, Brian, Christopher, Richard (Heather) Greene of Grand Manan; two sisters, Elizabeth (Betty) (Ray) Ingalls, Mildred Locke of Ingalls Head; three brothers, Winston (Melva), Gary (Maxine), Burtis (Mary) Greene of Ingalls Head; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Douglas (Buddy), James (Jimmy) Greene; and also one infant sister, Kathleen Greene.
The family will receive friends and relatives at Ells Funeral Home on Monday, June 3 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held from the Community Life Church, Grand Harbour, Tuesday, June 4, at 1:30 pm with a reception to follow in the church vestry. The family have requested donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor;s choice.
