The Young and Hawkins families regret to announce the untimely passing of our beloved husband, father, son and brother. Raymond passed away peacefully on June 2, 2013, with his wife and sons by his side.
Raymond left Sydney Mines to work in Alberta in 1979 settling in Hinton. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Teck Coal.
Ray leaves behind his loving wife Sue; sons, Shane (Suzanne) and Joey (Sara); beloved mother, Trudy; sisters, Callista (Jim) Parsons, Debbie (Keith) MacLeod, Donna and Terry (Colleen). Also left to mourn are his father-in-law, Jody Hawkins; several brothers and sisters-in-law, many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Donald Young and by his mother-in-law, Joan Hawkins.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service took place on Saturday, June 8th in Hinton, Alta. For his family and friends in Cape Breton, visitation will be held at J.M. Jobes Funeral Home in Sydney Mines on Monday, June 10th from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. A reception will follow at St. Pius X Hall.
Raymond will be deeply missed by his loving family and many longtime friends.
