Thomas Edward Butts, age 57 of Broughton, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Thomas and Catherine (Southwell) Butts.
Thomas was once employed at the Heavy Water Plant. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Thomas also enjoyed gardening, playing hockey, collecting hockey cards and shooting darts.
He is survived by his wife, Martha; two daughters, Tara (Chris), at home, Angela, Sydney, three stepdaughters, Carrie (Joe), Crystal (Rob), Amanda (Joe) Boutilier; four sisters, Karen, Diane, Darlene, Rochelle; one brother, Bernie and 13 grandchildren.
Thomas was predeceased by his parents and one grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass, officiated by Rev. Norman MacPhee will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in St. Anthony’s Church followed by interment in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy for Thomas, memorial donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
