ANNE SANDS

Born: May 13th, 1924

Passed in: Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada
Passed on: June 8th, 2013

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Annina (Anne) Sands, following a short stay at the Whitehorse General Hospital.

Anne was born May 13, 1924 in Field, B.C., the daughter of Bruno and Fiorina Danielle. Anne met the love of her life, Lyman Duke Sands in Kamloops, B.C. in 1954, and they were married May 14, 1955. Shortly thereafter Lyman began work as a B.C. Government Agent. His career took the family to various postings in B.C., including, Barkerville, Vanderhoof, Atlin, Fort St. John, Duncan & finally Penticton. In addition to raising their three children; Sheldon, Leslie and Randy, Anne worked as an office administrator for a law firm and the B.C. Assessment Bureau.

Upon retirement, Anne and Lyman moved to Atlin, B.C. where they joined their sons Sheldon and Randy in the running of their business.

Anne's greatest joy in life was her family, friends, church and entertaining. None of us are soon to forget her spaghetti and meatballs, among other things.

Anne is survived by her brother Bob (Rita) Danielle and their son Dean; her sons Sheldon (Haley) Sands, and Randy (Cathie) Sands; and her grandchildren Jamie Sands, Jordan Sands, and Natalie Sands.

A Service for Anne will be held in Atlin, B.C., on Saturday, June 22nd, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m., followed by a reception at the Atlin Inn.

Anne's family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the nurses of Atlin who enabled Anne to remain in her home until it was medically impossible to do so, and to the nurses of W.G.H. who extended wonderful palliative care to Anne in her final weeks. You are all 'angels on earth'.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Atlin Supportive Living Society.
