JOYCE STEWART JOYCE STEWART

Our mother, Joyce Stewart was born on November 16, 1922 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. She was adopted from the Children's Home in Moose Jaw by George and Mary Mercer of Grayburn. She and her 2 siblings, Albert and Florence were raised on the Mercer homestead. Mom later moved to Moose Jaw where after training to become a secretary, she would work for 13 years at Skingle's Moving Company. It was there she met and later married our father, Erskine Stewart. They settled in the Baildon area where they raised Douglas (Hermie) and Sharon (Vern). Mom and dad enjoyed an extended family of the Stewarts and the Mercers. Mom is survived by Dick Stewart, Fern Stewart, and many nieces and nephews along with Joan and Winston Huenison, Jean Mercer, Gary and Tommy Clarke and families. She later moved to Moose Jaw where she spent time with her children and grandchildren, Josh (Marina) Bucsis and Nolan Bucsis. Little Grandma would spend many loving hours with her grandsons. She would live long enough attend Josh and Marina’s wedding and also to meet their children, her two beautiful great-granddaughters, Sadie and Calla. She was also blessed with her "family" from Oxford Place and Extendicare. Mom never lacked for love and attention anywhere she went. She died in the early morning of Wednesday, June 12 surrounded by her Extendicare family. Mom died in her sleep having been surrounded with love and dignity. Her vibrant and loving ways will be missed by all who knew her. If you knew our mother, we would like you to think of her for a moment and have a chuckle at her many "ways" and if there was a worry to bite onto she would do just that ... A Private Family Service, will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in Joyce’s memory may be directed to the Alzheimer Association, #301 – 2550 12th Ave., Regina, S4P 3X1, or to the Extendicare Family Support Group, 1151 Coteau St.W., S6H 5G5. In living memory of Joyce, a memorial planting will be made by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
