NEW GLASGOW – Charles George MacLean, 85, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Stellarton and Irish Mountain, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013 in the manor.
Born in Timmins, Ont., he was a son of the late Enoch Gersham and Gladys Helen (Davidson) MacLean.
Prior to retirement, Charles had been a boiler operator at the former Hawker Siddeley, Trenton. In earlier years he had been employed at the former Clairtone, Stellarton. Charles raised and exhibited show hens throughout the Maritimes and Ontario. He served as poultry judge at the Pictou-North Colchester Exhibition for many years. He enjoyed carpentry and playing cards. Charles was a loving husband, step-father and step-grandfather.
Surviving are his wife, Gena M. (Sanson) MacLean, Stellarton; step-children: Michele, Colette and Dana; step-grandchildren: Renée, Richelle, Alexander and Gillian; brother, Wayne (Charlene) MacLean, Irish Mountain; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Kenneth and Harris.
There will be no visitation or funeral service by request.
Donations may be made in Charles memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
