CLIFFORD JACK WEATHERMON
Born: May 10th, 1952
Passed in: Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada
Passed on: June 8th, 2013
We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing on June 8th, 2013 of Clifford Jack Weathermon, beloved husband of June, dad to Caleb, Adam (Sarah) and Erin (Bjorn), and granddad to the crowning joy of his life, his three grandchildren Claire, Hugh and Tristan.
Cliff was born May 10th, 1952 in Kirkland, Washington to Frances and Jack Weathermon. Following his fatherís passing in 1960, Cliff and his mother spent 5 years in the Philippine Islands where Frances did work with Wycliffe Bible Translators. After High School graduation Cliff bicycled from Northern California to Langley, B.C. to attend Trinity Western University. That is where he and June met and fell in love, marrying in 1973.
He went on to graduate from Western Washington State University with a degree in Education. Later he went on to obtain his Masters Degree from UBC. His first teaching job was at John Peterson Jr. Secondary in Kamloops. After teaching there for 5 years, Cliff found his niche in Elementary School, teaching Grades 4 and 5 at Marion Schilling and Robert L. Clemitson until his retirement in 2009. He tirelessly promoted fitness and personal growth through sports his whole career. Track and field held a special place in his heart and he was a keen volunteer with the Kamloops Track and Field Club for many years. He spent many hours coaching basketball, soccer and volleyball. He was also active working with youth in the Kamloops Alliance Church.
In 1978, Cliff and June were thrilled to welcome Caleb into their family, followed by Adam in 1979 and daughter Erin in 1982. His children were the light of his life and he spared no effort in supporting their academic and athletic endeavors. He never balked at getting up at 5:00 a.m. for hockey practice or spending his precious weekend at a basketball or soccer tournament.
Since retiring, Cliff took up downhill skiing at Sun Peaks, and showed his usual enthusiasm and natural ability. He loved planning and organizing family trips to Disneyland as it was a magical place to him; as was Shuswap Lake where he spent many summers camping, boating and spending time at the cabin with family and friends.
We never expected that he would leave us so soon.
Cliff, we love you so much.
Thank you for your
dedication and love.
We will miss you for the
rest of our lives.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2013 at Kamloops Alliance Church, 233 Fortune Drive.
