VanWART, JOHN “JACK” A. H. - It is with sad hearts that the family of John “Jack” Alan Hugh VanWart announce his unexpected passing at the St. John Regional Hospital on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the age of 63. Jack was born in Edmundston, NB on May 8, 1950, son of the late Kenneth and Frances (Dougherty) VanWart. Jack drove taxi for Checker Cab in Fredericton for over 20 years. An avid guitar player, he was most notably known as a former member of “RedEye” and several other bands. Jack leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years, Norma (Miner) VanWart of Fredericton; two much loved daughters, Melissa VanWart (Jeff) of Edmonton, AB and Bridget VanWart (Brandon) of Fredericton; two brothers, Don VanWart (Eva) of Victoria, BC and Gerry VanWart (Susan) of Fredericton; one sister, Alice VanWart of Toronto, ON; one niece, two aunts, one uncle and several cousins. He also leaves behind his feline companion, “Billie”.
No visitation by request. A funeral service, celebrating Jack’s life, will be held at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Justin Beelsey officiating, assisted by Rev. Dale Riley. Interment will be held at a later date. Contributions to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
