With great sadness and sorrow the family of Maria announces her peaceful passing at the age of 89 years, with her family by her side. Maria is lovingly remembered by one son, Randolph (Lorna) Robert, Viscount, SK; two daughters, Kimberley (Zane) Dmytryshyn Warman,SK; Selena (Charlie) Archibald, Prince Albert, SK; grandchildren, Kjirsten Chad and Robyn Robert; Carmen (Matthew) Dmytryshyn-Kozak; Shannon (Jeff) Schaeffer; Adin (Rob) Dereniwski; Heidi Robert (Brian); great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Finley, Calem, Brynn and Hawkley; one sister, Beth (Bert) Carter; brothers, Carl (Lena) Stenstrom; Jerry (Sheila) Stenstrom; sister-in-law, Phyllis Stenstrom. Maria was predeceased by her husband, Alfred Robert (2010); and infant son Robin. Parents Oscar and Mary Stenstrom; grandparents, Carl and Alma Nilson; brothers, Ray and Norman Stenstrom. Maria was born on the family farm north west of Weldon, SK. Her mother Mary, died a few days after her birth and she was raised by her grandparents Carl and Alma Nilson. She met and married the "LOVE OF HER LIFE" Alfred Robert on November 25, 1942. Maria was a hard working partner on the family farm while raising three children. They farmed from 1946-1954 after dad returned from serving oversees in the army. They then moved to Arborfield, SK where they ran restaurants, a clothing store and a movie theatre. In 1961 Mom and Dad moved back to the Prince Albert Rural area and then in 1968 into the city of Prince Albert. Mom was noted for her gardening skills, cooking abilities and hospitality for all who came to visit. Mom was generous, kind, caring, and had a keen sense of humour. She was also an avid organist and a real computer whiz, which she learned in her later years. Mom cared for dad for several years when his health had deteriorated. She was known for feistiness, strong will and independence. After dad passed on, Mom remained in her home until June 1, 2013 at which time true to her sense of adventure she moved to the City of Warman and her first apartment. Unfortunately she didn’t get much time to enjoy it. She was known as GG to her great grandchildren and much loved by all of her family. Mom will always be remembered by her children and their families. If love could have kept her alive, she would have been here forever. Maria’s Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday June 20, 2013 at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall (133-8th Street East), Prince Albert, SK. Following lunch, inurnment will take place at the South Hill Cemetery - Veteran's section, Prince Albert, SK. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Arrangements in care of Matthew Kozak - MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (306-978-5200) www.mourningglory.ca
