MCEACHERN- Mildred McEachern: 1918-2013. Mildred passed away on June 16, 2013 at Foyer St. Joseph Nursing Home in Ponteix, SK. She was born, the fifth child of seven, on the family farm just outside of Tompkins, SK on September 16, 1918. Her parents were Philomena and Louis Dosman. Mildred received her schooling at the Anzac and Tompkins Schools and teacher training at Normal School in Moose Jaw. She taught in the rural schools of Glenside and Boyer Lake. In 1946 Mildred along with her sister, Luetta and brother, Clarence, went to Toronto where she lived for five years working at various jobs: Income Tax Department and Zurich Insurance. On July 30, 1951, in Toronto, she married Malcolm McEachern. In the spring of 1952 they returned to the prairies, to Malcolm's family farm where she raised her family and lived the life of a farm wife. Mildred was always busy and productive year round: raising a family of six children, tending a huge garden, and nurturing abundant and glorious flowers. Her many interests and talents included quilting (over one hundred in number), sewing, crocheting, cake decorating, embroidering, canning/preserving, archiving, playing cards and Scrabble. The centre of her life was the love of her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her unwavering faith in God and love of the church. Mildred is loved and remembered by her husband Malcolm of 61 years, children: Rita LeMarellec (Jake Banman), and her children Denise (Laine)Wall, Rena (Jeff) Middleton, and Kevin (Jordanne). Joe McEachern and his children Ben, Dan (Sara) and Charlotte (Jon) Villemaire. Janet (Bill) MacDonald, and their children Wendy (Kelly) Smith and Kristin (Scot) Hooper. Elaine (Norman) Lacasse, and their children Shane, Mark, Ryan (Laura), Michael (Lenni), and Philip (Carlye Ross). Camille (Ron) Rochon and their children Andrew, Nicole (Andrew) Turk, and John. Daughter-in-law Mariette (Murray) Jacek and her children Laurie and Jason. She had 14 beloved great grandchildren: Dylan Wall, Hannah Biccum, Phoenix and Liam Harding, Macy Mae Villemaire, Elena and Derek Smith, Breanne Hooper, Ian, Dylan, Kendra and Calvin Lacasse, Aurelia and Aurora Lacasse. Two sisters, Luetta Trehas and Amelia (Tom) Andreas and in-laws, Anita (Bert) Movold and Fred Upton along with numerous nieces and nephews. Mildred is predeceased by her parents Philomena (Koehmstedt Nov. 1984) and Louis Dosman (May 1924), brothers, Lawrence (Aug. 1989), Joseph (Aug. 1965) and Clarence (Feb. 1970), sister Anna Mae Robinson (Aug. 2002), sisters- in-law Frances Dosman (Dec. 2008), Madeleine Upton (July 2005), brothers-in-law George Robinson (Oct. 1999) and John Trehas (June 2004), son Neil (Apr. 1991), and granddaughter Bernadette MacDonald (Sept. 1979). The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff of Foyer St. Joseph Nursing Home where Mildred received excellent compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Foyer St. Joseph Nursing Home, Safe Garden in Ponteix, SK. The Funeral service was held on Monday, June 24, 2013 at Christ the Redeemer Roman Catholic Church in Swift Current, SK presided by Rev. Father Guy Amedee Ainemon. The Interment took place at Memory Gardens, Swift Current, SK. Lemieux Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
