Elizabeth Clara Joudrey - 97, of Wolfville, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2013 in the Wolfville Nursing Home. Born in Black River, Kings County, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Margaret (Eye) Brown. In her early years, she had been employed with Van Zoost’s Bakery in Wolfville and later dedicated her time to raising her family. After the age of 50, she learned to drive and worked at Acadia University, from where she retired. She enjoyed flower gardening, rug/mat hooking, knitting, quilting and cooking, especially pies. She is survived by three daughters, Neta (Malcolm) Croft, Greenwich; Jean (William “Bill”) Power, Sackville; Hope (Wayne) Wagner, Kentville; a son, Bernard “Bernie” (Dale) Joudrey, Truro; granddaughter (who was just like a daughter), Susan (Paul) Robinson, Hortonville; a daughter-in-law, Gladys Joudrey, Greenfield; 14 additional grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband, Burton Joudrey; two sons, David and Donald “Donnie” Joudrey; five sisters, Martha Cavanagh, Jessie Davison, Emily Oakes, Carrie and Elsie Brown; three brothers, Robert, Leslie “Ted” and Carl Brown. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 4, 2013 in the Kentville Baptist Church, Reverend Doctor John McNally officiating. Burial took place in the Gaspereau Cemetery, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to the Kentville Baptist Church.
