In the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at St. Paul’s Hospital, Joe Markling, 81, died peacefully in his loving wife’s arms surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He moved from Nobleville to Prince Albert with his parents at the age of 18. Joe worked in various jobs from logging with his brothers to a career as an electrician. He met the love of his life, Phyllis, and courted her for one year. They were married September 7, 1955 in Ridgedale, SK. They made their first home in Regina where Joe worked for the Provincial Government. Joe and Phyllis made many moves along the way to follow his work, from Regina to Duncan, BC to Humboldt, SK then finally settling in Prince Albert. In their 58 years of marriage they lived in 30 homes (26 by their 25th Anniversary). Joe was an active participant in the community with involvement in his church, Search for Christian Maturity, Independent Order of Foresters, Vintage Power Machines, and Prince Albert Optimist Club. Joe is survived by his lifelong wife and partner, Phyllis (Shields); his children and grandchildren Jerry (Aileen) - Melanie (Aaron), Jeremy (Clarissa), Justin; Dale (Mary-Lou) – Mike (Sara), Shea (Kristy), Landon; Bonnie (Terry) Wawro – Brenden (Ashley), Ryan, Ashley; Heather (Ken) Anderson – Jessica, Tyler, Larissa; Dave (Carol) – Lisa, Bobby, Josh, Matthew; his great grandchildren Logan, Jefferson, Carson, Kolbie, Alexis, Madden, Isla, Cooper, Fergus and Bria; his sisters Viola, Millie and Agnes; his sister-in-law Mae and numerous nieces and nephews.
