The death occurred peacefully at the Summerset Manor, Summerside, on Friday, July 5, 2013, of Eileen Sutherland of Summerside, aged 75 years. Eileen was born on April 27, 1938, in Priest Pond, P.E.I., to her late parents Donald and Mary (nee MacEachern) Sutherland. Beloved wife of the late Elmer DesRoches and loving mother of Paula Martin (Ray Cameron) and her children Colin MacLeod and Alex Martin, Michael Gillis (Brenda Simmons), Dawna Gillis (Wally MacPhee), Giselle (Finton MacKinnon), Darcy Gillis (Marcella Nonez). Also lovingly remembered by Elmer's children and their families. Survived by her sisters Christina McMurrer, Marilyn Sutherland, Joan Allen and Maria (Gib) Gibson and her brother Lorne Sutherland (Kathy MacWilliams). Besides her parents, Eileen was predeceased by her brother Ernie Sutherland, sons-in-law David MacLeod and Dale Cameron and brothers-in-law Fred Allen and Eddie McMurrer. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside, until Tuesday, July 9, then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside, for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. By family request, family flowers only please, however, memorial donations in Eileen's memory to the Alzheimer Society of P.E.I. would be greatly appreciated.
