McMACKIN, JOHN RAYMOND - Mr. John Raymond McMackin of 65 War Veterans Ave. Moncton, passed away at the Veteran's Health Center on July 6, 2013 at the age of 92. He was born Wards Creek, NB on October 16, 1920 and was the son of the late John and Annie (Quirk) McMackin. Ray is survived by his sister Marion Doherty and his brother in law Roger St. Arnaud as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Raymond is predeceased by his brothers Lawrence and his wife Geraldine, Clarence and his wife Marion as well as by his sister Helen St. Arnaud. Ray graduated from Sussex High School and the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He was employed by the Canadian Pacific Railway Company, private contractors and federal government on various construction projects across Canada. He served overseas during WWII and was a Flight Lieutenant pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force and operated from bases in the United Kingdom, Africa and Italy.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). In honour of Ray's request, a graveside service celebrating his life will be held from Wards Creek Cemetery at a later date. Donations made to the Wards Creek Cemetery Fund would be appreciated by the family.
