It is with great sadness that the family of the late John David Fisher Martin announce his peaceful passing surrounded by his family at his residence on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at the age of 81 years. He leaves to mourn his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Mimie (nee Brenton); his children: Paula Bennett, Jo-Ann (Terry Rideout) and Andrew (Maxine Snow); grandson Keith Bennett; great-grandchildren: Hayley and Jayden; his five cats and his special companion dog Sara; sister Barbara (Gerry Bartlett); brother William (Marina); sisters-in-law: Joan Pynn, Kay Brenton and Mabel Brenton and many other extended family, friends and relatives. He was predeceased by parents Edward and Gertrude (Fisher) Martin; sister Shirley; brother-in-law Harold Lundrigan; brothers-in-law Malcolm, Les, Harry, William and Alec. Friends may visit Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road, on Tuesday between the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from First United Church, Park Street. Reverend Harry Whitehorn officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to The Heart & Stroke Foundation, The Lung Association, The Alzheimer’s Society or to the charity of one’s choice.
