Passed on: July 8th, 2013

It is with full hearts that we announce the passing of Chalmers Eugene MacIntyre at his home, Harbourstone Enhanced Care, on July 8, 2013. Chalmers passed away peacefully, rosary in hand, with his loving wife, Marie, at his side.
Born in Sydney on April 30, 1939, Chalmers was the son of the late D.J. and Ethel (Musgrave) MacIntyre.
Chalmers was a member of Holy Redeemer parish, where his strong faith helped him conquer the many challenges in his life along with Marie’s support. In his early years, he was in The Brothers where upon leaving he entered The Teacher’s College. Chalmers spent many years as a member of the KOC, AA’s, prayer groups and a volunteer with palliative care. He found great pleasure in his love of music. Chalmers was an inspiration to all of us including the many children he had the pleasure of teaching through the years, especially the mentally challenged.
Dad has shared his compassion and wisdom with all he met, especially his children. He has left us a story of joy and a love of life, music and God.
Dad, who had his doctorate in philosophy, had a gift of seeing the bigger picture in life. He encouraged us to search inside ourselves to find what was “burning” in us. He then encouraged us to pursue it. Our father’s acceptance and love made us feel valued. This feeling of validation and comfort with humanity gave us the desire, strength and perseverance to be the best that we were able to be. Thanks Dad!
Chalmers is survived by his loving wife and life companion, Marie; daughters, Carol-Anne Larade (Tom), Lawrencetown, Juantia Ashton (Richard), Milford, and Catherine MacIntyre, Newfoundland; sons, Stephen (Olathe), ON, Michael (Carrie), Manitoba; grandchildren, Tessa and Christopher Larade, Kadynce, Augyst and Mehlyn Ashton, Clark and Emmerich MacIntyre, and Collin and Sydney MacIntyre; brothers, Lorne, Carl, Charlie, Angus and Alex; many nieces and nephews and special niece and friend, Chris Jollymore.
Besides his parents, Chalmers was predeceased by his brothers, Gilbert and Calvan Hector and two siblings in infancy.
